Ghost Ship Lyrics

I remember flashbacks, lighting up magic whip
Eight o'clock, Kowloon emptiness, handle it
The white horse image I had of you 11 seconds ago
I didn't send you, so you will never know

I got away for a little while
But then it came back much harder

Swinging on a cable up to Po Lin
Climbing down the ghostly wire in a battery
That light in your eyes, I search for religiously
Oh, when it's not there, oh Lord, it's hurting me

I got away for a little while
But then it came back much harder

'Til I ever hold you out there again
Will you be mine?
'Cause I'm on a ghost ship drowning my heart
In Hong Kong
It's the last ride boarding here tonight
Out in the bay (out in the bay)
I’ll need a lantern in you to shine out
Bright rays

Feeling outta body here, what can I do?
It's up to the top everyday to join here with you

I had to get away for a little while
But then it came back much harder

'Til I ever hold you out there again
Will you be mine?
'Cause I'm on a ghost ship drowning my heart
In Hong Kong
It's the last ride boarding here tonight
Out in the bay (out in the bay)
I’ll need a lantern in you to shine out
Bright rays

'Til I ever hold you out there again
Will you be mine? (will you be mine?)
'Cause I'm on a ghost ship drowning my heart
In Hong Kong
It's the last ride boarding here tonight
Out in the bay (out in the bay)
I’ll need a lantern in you to shine out
Bright rays
Bright rays
Bright rays

"I had to get away for a little while But then it came back much harder"

He avoided something and when he eventually faced the problem it had grown and become even worse of a problem.

"Will you be mine?" might be asking Graham to be his friend again.

"'Cause I'm on a ghost ship driving my heart Home, come It's the last ride boarding here tonight ... Rat race"

He's on his "ship" trying to get to Graham (heart home) and then asks him to return home with him. "Last ride" refers to it being a now-or-never thing. If they don't rekindle their relationship now it's too late. He's racing to get to Graham.

My Interpretation

@lhoggy "Living outta body here, what can I do? It's up to the doc everyday to join here with you" >> it's some kind of Damons' reflection on how he was trying to get his mind to Gorillaz or at that time, Everyday Robots, and wondering everytime "what if Graham give tunes to this song or that song" But that never happened until the Magic Whip created.

Its really fun to know that after some unfinished projects during the process, Graham keep on thinking about those tracks and secretly called Dave and Alex to contribute,...
