Fields of Our Home Lyrics

So you honestly believe in me
though I wake up every night
and I've been dreaming of a second rush
while the first one leaves your eye

What if you'd never been through lies,
young sorrow, wailing loans,
what if you'd never seen through that
to the fields of our home

Always rumours of a flame in town
not by parents ever traced
just a part of what we do out here
subtle early, vicious late

What if I'd never been through finds
of sorrow, wailing loans
what if I'd never seen through that
to the fields of our home

When all falling down is just the traveling need
of a wave
and the burn of a salt in the cuts come around
heal again

There was always racing on that crossing street
where you'd land on quiet heels
will there ever be a sane time to
let them know how walking feels

What if we never see through crying tomorrows,
wailing loans
what if we never see through that
to the fields of our...

The more we believe in these frozen grounds
suddenly hunger disappears
will we fall as we run with our closing eyes

Is this a lifetime or some years?

Seems to be staying through the hardships in a relationship to reach better times.

These are just some spontaneous ideas while listening through the song.

The lines: So you honestly believe in me though I wake up every night and I've been dreaming of a second rush while the first one leaves your eye

Sounds like his partner fully believed in him and the relationship despite him having doubts. This commitment added to his already existing guilt of having the doubts in the first place. The dreaming of a second rush could mean a new love, while the first one begins to fade.

The fields of our home could be the union created by the two and possibly refers to both their physical and metaphysical connection/creation. If they had never seen though the doubt/hardship, they would have never made it home or back to the sanctuary of their connection/relationship.

There was always racing on that crossing street where you'd land on quiet heels will there ever be a sane time to let them know how walking feels

I believe the traffic on the crossing street is the street that one would have to cross/re join if it was decided to leave home. Leaving the sanctuary of love and back into the hard real world. His leaving lover quietly re-renters this life. He wonders if there will ever be an appropriate time to ask how her new life has become "how walking feels". It is very easy to relate to this line. He still cares deeply about this person and wants to know how her life is but feels that it is not ok to ask.

Great song!
