I think this is a sad song and not too difficult to decipher.

A persons actions are being described- someone who is idealizing the person who they like, but she is saying that this person does not know what they are talking about. The person who does the liking does not do it with the other persons best interest in mine- they just do it because it makes them feel good even though the other person does not really want to indulge their advances.

The reason I comment is because I think I am the person pushing myself on someone- so of course- one becomes more introspective about a song when you see yourself/situation in it. It hurts to know the person you like does not share your affections.
