It Has Begun Lyrics
Even a well lit place, can hide salvation
A map to a one man maze that never sees the sun
Where the lost are the heroes
And the thieves are left to drown
But everyone knows by now
Fairy-tales are not found
They are written in the walls
As we walk in a straight line
Down in the dirt with a landslide approaching
But nothing could ever stop us
From stealing our own place in the sun
We will face the odds against us
And run into the fear we run from
It has begun
Into the dark below
Evading shadows
Blind in a rabbit's hole
We fall beneath the earth
And watch the shell come unraveled
As the seeds begin to rise
Awaking a starlit fate as we wait in the night
It's written in the walls
As we walk in a straight line
Down in the dirt with a landslide approaching
But nothing could ever stop us
From stealing our own place in the sun
We will face the odds against us
And run into the fear we run from
It has begun
It has begun
It has begun
It has begun
It has begun
A map to a one man maze that never sees the sun
Where the lost are the heroes
And the thieves are left to drown
But everyone knows by now
Fairy-tales are not found
They are written in the walls
Down in the dirt with a landslide approaching
But nothing could ever stop us
From stealing our own place in the sun
We will face the odds against us
And run into the fear we run from
Into the dark below
Evading shadows
Blind in a rabbit's hole
We fall beneath the earth
And watch the shell come unraveled
As the seeds begin to rise
Awaking a starlit fate as we wait in the night
It's written in the walls
Down in the dirt with a landslide approaching
But nothing could ever stop us
From stealing our own place in the sun
We will face the odds against us
And run into the fear we run from
It has begun
It has begun
It has begun
It has begun

Carbon Monoxide poisoning is deadly, it will kill you slowly and silently. Slowly black out. Painless, until you realize your dead. So keep sitting, enjoy the heat.
Put your hand in the fire. Now you know you're dying.
Or better yet get your chimney cleaned.
I see this as a song about The Resistance, whatever form that may take - whether in today's world or in the futuristic dystopian Starset universe. The first verse talks about fairy tales, where all is right with the world, evil is punished, and the good wins. But "fairy tales are not found, they're written in the walls" - that was just a fairy tale. Reality is the opposite: evil wins, the good will be crushed in a "landslide".
The chorus talks about regrouping to defeat this pervasive evil. The Resistance is writing its own stories, or fairy tales - it has begun to rise.
No matter where you start, your path is your own. One man's map is another's maze. Our story isn't found, it's written in the walls as we walk. We cannot escape our fear, the more we run from it we will run to it fast. We walk in the dirt and the shadow, seeking our place in the sun. Life falls and shifts around us forcing us further into the dark below. Our fate is to miss the sun and be forced to await it's return in the dimness of the starlit sky. The odds are stacked against us as life tries to bury us in its landslide even as we crack and wait under the stars. No matter how brightly we shine, we will never amount to the light of the sun that is wished of us, fated as well are to emanate the meager light of a star. But we will face the odds against us, because nothing will stop us from stealing our place in the sun. It is the doomed duality of man to ever seek that which is unachievable, without ever seeing the salvation that was hidden in the brightly lit places. "It has begun"
