My Religion Lyrics

Put the needle down
She came in through the window
Spinning round and round
This is how I wanna feel

And the sound fills my soul like a sun shining through my window
Let it flow through my veins
This is my religion
This is my religion

I'll put the needle down
The sky is a landfill
Oh, it spits us to the ground
Until we're buzzing through a stereo

And the sound fills my soul like a sun shining through my window
Let it flow through my veins
This is my religion
This is my religion

Oh, oh!

As I bow my head to pray
May the verses that they sing
Fall like wine to my lips
This is my religion

Put the needle down (this is my religion)
Put the needle down (this is my religion)
I'll put the needle down (this is my religion)
Put the needle down

This is my religion

I love this song. It's my ringtone. After much debate with myself I think it's about music in general. Needle down-record player Spinning round and round Music touches him in a way that border upon a religion. I feel something similar to this when I listen to certain music. Music takes me to a whole other place and I forget myself or it can recall past times and people in my mind when I hear it. When it's touches you, you might tear up or get goosebumps. I experience this more often in a live setting but it does happen with recordings, as well. "This is how I want to feel." "The sky IS a Landfill" I want to say is just a drop of truth. But it could be a metaphor for how he feels on a day to day level until some random song lifts him up. That is my take on this song. I can't say I'm right because I've been wrong before. Maybe they don't freely post their meaning because they let us decide what it means to us.

All this app is missing is the actual meanings. It would be great if we could get the artist to explain as best he/she can to the people who love his/her songs enough to try and decipher the meaning.

My Opinion

@1badkitty88 Totally agree with your take on the song. "The sky is a landfill" line, though, I thought was a pretty clear criticism of so much of today's awful music filling up the airwaves (i.e. the sky) like a landfill, pretty much saying the music is garbage. Alternatively, it could just be saying that there is SO MUCH music out there that getting noticed and rising to the top of the heap (of the landfill of music) is really difficult, hence it "spits us to the ground". Only when his music is "buzzing through a stereo" does it get noticed...

For me, I think it's about his fellow voice actors Travis Willingham and his wife Laura Bailey, who are also his best friends.
