Night Changes

I think its describing a boy and girl going out. The mother of the girl doesn't approve her outfit. The girl doesn't care and wants to go out and have a good time. The guy asks if shes ever thought about how fast their dates go by and how they are getting older. Although when she sleeps, her dreams go away when she wakes up; the boy reminds her that their relationship won't vanish when she wakes up. She has doubts, but he keeps reminding her that their love will never fade away as the night changes. Her mother is concerned that she will try to grow up to fast. He reassures her by saying their love will never change as the night changes.

I do not think that this is a romantic song. If fact, I do not think that "he" plays a significant role in the story. I think it's about a mother consoling her daughter after her first sexual encounter. The young girl (daughter) want's it to happen but she wants it to be right and without regrets . The "night" is a metaphor for how quickly we all grow up. Reference to her own lost innocence and her worry over her daughter's dress choice leads me to believe that the mother recognizes her daughter's intentions. We all have hopes and dreams about how we want our lives.... and the lives of our loved ones...to play out. We all want to be the narrator of our life story. I'm guessing that maybe the experience was not exactly what the young girl anticipated it to be.. or maybe it was but I do not think that's the point. I think the mother is assuring her daughter that while absolutely everything is changing their relationship will not falter.

This can be interpreted from the mother's perspective, the daughter and her getaway partner wasn't really there, she was just watching her past unfold, all her regrets, all her questions of how she got where she is at the moment, where went wrong, and what really is it for, what she's doing, all those hopes and promises she's watched and heard, "it'll never change me and you" but what happened, everything just faded and collapsed as she got older, not noticing the change, the absence of her naivety and innocence, not noticing anything until some one direction song pointed it out. Now she's trying to express her objection to that daughter, to her past self, the things you think you won't regret are probably the most you will. There's no such thing as "No Regrets." You just gotta live with whatever regret you're holding on, "We will never change" the moment you realise something that you haven't before you already have.

I think that the explaination is much simpler than all yalls. Its just that even though everything seems do be going fine, you can kick open a hornest in no time.
