Well you've got it all, you've got it all wrong
Least I know you're a poor unfortunate soul
Oh I know, you make it seem that you feel whole
So they don't know, you're a poor unfortunate soul
Yeah, you put on a faithful side then get holy when you're not
I hate to break it to you baby but you simply lost
You can right all the wrongs just to feel you belong
But simply calling lost ends don't bring me closer to God
Cause you're a ghost at most, a sight of empty bones
Since you got anything and everything to make you feel home
When it gets cold, oh oh oh
You don't know, we don't know
Oh, you're all alone, a poor unfortunate soul
But you control the way your body lets you go
Oh, you're all alone, a poor unfortunate soul
When you say, that I've got it all wrong
Cause you just know, I'm a poor unfortunate soul
But there's no way that there's weight
In the worries that you preach
When you cling to your faith and you contradict your speech
So I sit here and listen to you turn the cheek
I know that when you sit and pray you're only praying for keeps
Cause you're a ghost at most, a sight of empty bones
Since you got anything and everything to make you feel whole
When it gets cold, oh oh oh
You don't know, we don't know
Oh, you're all alone, a poor unfortunate soul
But you control the way your body lets you go
Oh, you're all alone, a poor unfortunate soul
You're shallow and empty, full with regret
I think that chest must be heavy from that cross on your neck
You only wear cause you're worried of what comes next
After your death, don't think I didn't notice
Don't think I didn't notice
Don't think I didn't know you're just a poor unfortunate soul
Poor unfortunate, poor unfortunate soul
Poor unfortunate, oh oh oh, poor unfortunate soul
You've got me all wrong
Poor unfortunate soul
Least I know you're a poor unfortunate soul
Oh I know, you make it seem that you feel whole
So they don't know, you're a poor unfortunate soul
I hate to break it to you baby but you simply lost
You can right all the wrongs just to feel you belong
But simply calling lost ends don't bring me closer to God
Since you got anything and everything to make you feel home
When it gets cold, oh oh oh
Oh, you're all alone, a poor unfortunate soul
But you control the way your body lets you go
Oh, you're all alone, a poor unfortunate soul
Cause you just know, I'm a poor unfortunate soul
But there's no way that there's weight
In the worries that you preach
When you cling to your faith and you contradict your speech
So I sit here and listen to you turn the cheek
I know that when you sit and pray you're only praying for keeps

Don't think I didn't know you're just a poor unfortunate soul
Poor unfortunate, poor unfortunate soul
Poor unfortunate, oh oh oh, poor unfortunate soul
You've got me all wrong
Poor unfortunate soul

I think Lynn is talking to someone who is obviously very religious, religious in a bad way, one of those who tries to force their faith onto others and judges people harshly for doing things the bible doesn't approve of, in this case being gay. This person has probably told Lynn that her lifestyle is sinful and that she is going to hell for it. I get chills every time I hear this line " I think that chest must be heavy from that cross on your neck, you only wear 'cause you're weary of what comes next after you're death. I love this song and this band!!
I love the contrast of the melody and lyric of this song
it looks like a teenage rage, the writing here is amazing and is so raw Cant tell how much every bit of this song makes it perfect and dangerously smooth
