Written about a professional feud with another artist who “basically tried to sabotage [Swift’s] entire arena tour,” according to Swift, “Bad Blood” is rumored to be about Katy Perry, who may or may not have hired dancers away from Swift’s tour supporting Red. Needless to say, the song is wounded and angry (“Band aids don’t fix bullet holes/ You say sorry just for show”). The equally hard-hitting beat (which reminded me, of all things, of “Grindin’”) is going to rattle trunks.

Bad Blood” is a song about having a falling out with a female celebrity friend.
As she said in her Rolling Stone interview: “
For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’ Then last year, the other star crossed a line. She did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I’m surprisingly non-confrontational – you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It’s awkward, and I don’t like it. Much speculation has been made about who this song is about, with one popular theory pinning her as Katy Perry.

i dun say that i hate Taylor, but the music video doesn't make any sense! does it?! i can't believe she came from Mine music video to this! i'm saying she used to be a lot cuter and lovely, but im afraid there is no such love and beauty in her music, she looks like a rough adult woman who would smash everything around that u can't easily approach her! we have some women like that dun we?! like Kesha and Katy Perry,... but its so hurting that we would never have any cute country girl anymore...
@RBLIL I think she's grown up into a beautifully talented woman. At some point, all "cute country girls" have to make a similar transition. The only difference is Taylor Swift is in the public eye. "1989" shows exactly how talented she is. She's light years ahead her pop contemporaries. She's also classy. I'm saying this as someone who has never been a big Swift fan.

Ppl don’t understand she is right to be angry for this – sabotage is cruel, and maybe just for one music video she didn’t have to be that “cute county girl” any more but that’s fine! I found articles that suggest it was written about an issue with another female celebrity (guessing Katy Perry by others suggestions). Ironic that stealing some dancers almost ruined her tour ... I thought people went to see her because of her songs not the dancers??
Anyway this would have to be close to one of the worse songs I've heard by her. Shake It Off was bearable (well the first two or three times on the radio ... got thin when it was on at least twice an hour each day). I managed to watch a bit over a minute of her video for this song before I had to end the torture.
I guess all artists like to push the boundaries, try new things etc. but this is one experiment I think has really failed for her (although being Number 1 on Billboard suggests that her fans don't really care about the quality anymore).
