Monday Lyrics
Monday I’ll take the world on a walk with me.
I promise that someday we'll look back on this walk fondly.
Today's the day I make the world's greatest apology
for following in my own footsteps in the sand the wrong way,
and leaving a trail of crumbs like I want them to find me
and ravage my skin and bones.
But I can lie low till the doggies have lost my trail,
as long as my halo doesn't illuminate the pale night.
Monday I'm digging up the grave of the man that I want to be
and emptying my pockets and giving away all my economy.
Today's the day I put the clothes of a dead man on me
and lie down beside him and pretend that his soul is a part of me.
Apart of me. And close my eyes for just one dream.
I’m dreaming of my biology and hoping that death will come.
Then I can lie low, 6 feet underground till I go home
and get stripped of my halo and get assigned a pitchfork maybe.
I promise that someday we'll look back on this walk fondly.
Today's the day I make the world's greatest apology
for following in my own footsteps in the sand the wrong way,
and leaving a trail of crumbs like I want them to find me
and ravage my skin and bones.
But I can lie low till the doggies have lost my trail,
as long as my halo doesn't illuminate the pale night.
and emptying my pockets and giving away all my economy.
