Drown Lyrics
Got a hole in my soul growing deeper and deeper and I can't take...
One more moment of this silence,
The loneliness is haunting me.
And the weight of the world's getting harder to hold up.
Hold my breath and let it bury me.
Won't you drag the lake and bring me home again?
Dive in when I'm down?
Save me from myself.
Don't let me drown.
Drag me out alive?
Save me from myself.
Don't let me drown.
Dive in when I'm down?
Save me from myself.
Don't let me drown
I think it's about depression. Drowning in sadness and such. When he says "Save me from myself", I think he's talking about suicide and self harm. I could name more examples from the song, but I would basically be typing the whole first verse. It's packed full of it. Just the first sentence is enough for me. This is just my opinion though. It's based on my feelings and experiences. With music, poetry, or even religion, it can all be interpreted in several different ways.
This song is about lead singer Oli's addiction to Ketamine Animal tranquilizers for those who don't know what K is He was addicted for years and ended up going to rehab for a month to kick his habit. The lyrics are pretty much self explanatory after knowing this fact. This is the reason the album was much more melodic and a lot less scream-y than their previous albums. He stated he wanted to "Sing it from the rooftops" instead of scream
I love this song so much! Bit off topic, but has anyone heard of the band FROM INSIDE?? Well I read on Twitter that Oli Sykes and Jordan Fish have written all the music for them cos they are good friends in the UK. Check out their music video for their single BE YOURSELF - FROM INSIDE by searching on Youtube, it sounds very BMTH but still its ridiculous good obviously. Mad that they are doing this too for friends bands now, really love them :D xo
personally i think this song is about loneliness, and having nobody there for you when you need them most. But you have to go through it by yourself but you just can't do it on your own. Honestly i have no idea this is just what i thought.

I think this song is about Oli's drug addiction and about going to rehab. It shows that he feels lonely and he needs someone else to help him ('you know that I can't do this on my own'). 'Hold my breath and let it bury me' is definitely a reference to being high. It also shows the low after being high and how he is lost and depressed. 'Bring me home again' is him wanting to not be addicted.
I personally think this a song about how he feels he has lost all freewill and wishes to die because life is pointless and unbearable to him hence him saying "hold my breath and let it bury me" and his feeling control and manipulate him and he is depressed to the point where he is saying "Who will fix me now ?" I am not sure that is my thought about the songs meaning. Feel free to make your own.
That is probably why there are the hospital patients in the video.
I think this song is about loneliness or abandonment. I cry whenever I here it because I am dreading the summer holidays. I wont see my best freind for six weeks! Two week holidays were bad enough, how am I supposed to last 6!? Only when I am on holidays do I realise how reliant I am of him. What if he moves schools? What if I move schools? Anyway, none of us are moving schools because both our parents are determined to keep us here until we graduate. Anywayway, ive gone way off track and this song is awesome! BMTH rulz!
I think people are right to say that it's about Oli's struggle with depression and addiction, but it's also about crawling out of it.
"Don't let me drown" is the clearest line, since it's in the tense of a command/request. He's asking someone, anyone, to "save him from himself" and "drag him out alive".
"Cause you know that I can't do this on my own" is another good example of his plea for help: he's in need of someone to help him, save him, from the things that have been holding him back and destroying him, and he's tried to do it all himself before -- it's just never worked out, and now he's asking, begging, for help.
If you're going through a tough time, just know that there is always someone you can talk to. They may not be a savior, but they can be a rock that grounds you. In the end, you're the master of your own fate, but that in no way means you should control it all on your own.
