Whispered something in your ear
It was a perverted thing to say
But I said it anyway
Made you smile and look away

Nothing's gonna hurt you, baby
As long as you're with me, you'll be just fine
Nothing's gonna hurt you, baby
Nothing's gonna take you from my side

When we dance in my living room
To that silly '90s R&B
When we have a drink or three
Always ends in a hazy shower scene

Nothing's gonna hurt you, baby
As long as you're with me, you'll be just fine
Nothing's gonna hurt you, baby
Nothing's gonna take you from my side

And we laugh into the microphone and sing
With our sunglasses on, to our favorite songs

And we're laughing in the microphone and singing
With our sunglasses on, to our favorite songs

Nothing's gonna hurt you, baby
Nothing's gonna take you from my side

    My Interpretation

For me, this song talks about the newness of a relationship/encounter with someone and the intense level of intimacy that comes with that. I feel it's this and also the idea of trying to get someone to open up to you and make them feel comfortable in your presence, because unlike the people whom may have come and gone in their life, you actually care.

Am I the only one to think there is a dark undertow to this song? Is he reassuring her or controlling her? 'Nothings gonna take you from my side' - makes me shiver.....!

Come to me... let me in, I'll shield you with all of my soul and never let you get hurt again. Is it a lie? It's how I feel...

This song sounds like is about people who are depressed and how the guy tells her that as long as she is with him she'll be just fine as a way to make her feel comfortable and connected to him, I mean the tune sounds dark yet relaxing and a bit sexual and the message that sends it's one of someone trying to make his girl feel a deep connection with him.

To me this song feels reassuring. For some people who often feel scared of being hurt, this person gives the reassurance and to help them let their guard down. I mean, who can really promise that? I don’t think anyone can. But at least the intention of acting in the best interest of his lover, I think it’s a sweet song.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
