My Favourite Faded Fantasy Lyrics

You could be my favourite taste
to touch my tongue
I know someone who could serve me love
But it wouldn’t fill me up

You could have my favourite face
and favourite name
I know someone who could play the part
But it wouldn’t be the same

No it wouldn’t be the same
No it wouldn’t be the same
No it wouldn’t be the same
As with you

You could be my favourite place
I’ve ever been
I got lost in your willingness
To dream within the dream

You could be my favourite faded fantasy
I’ve hung my happiness upon what it all could be

And what it all could be
What it all what it all could be
What it all what it all could be
With you
What it all what it all could be
What it all what it all could be
What it all what it all could be
With you

You could hold the secrets that save
me from myself
I could love you more than love could
All the way from hell

You could be my poison, my cross
My razor blade
I could love you more than life
If I wasn’t so afraid

Of what it all could be
What it all what it all could be
Of what it all what it all could be
With you
What it all what it all could be
Of what it all what it all could be
What it all what it all could be
With you

Loved is all that bloomed
Always what you did
Never let someone go or they...
I ain’t never loved like you

I’ve never loved I’ve never loved
I’ve never loved loved, loved like you
I’ve never loved
I’ve never loved
I’ve never loved

I believe this song is pretty self-explanatory, I think he's saying that there is this person that he's in love with (and was previously in a relationship with) that could (for want of a better phrase) make his life better. He's afraid though because of what's happened in the past and also because he’s aware that he could be building it up in his head more than it is. He's now with someone else who just doesn't quite live up to them. He finds himself fantasising about what it would be like to be with them again however he finds that the person that he's singing about is now a faded memory that he’s been fantasised in his mind he can't get rid of.

This man is just the best song writer I've heard in the past ten/fifteen years he has gotten me through some pretty tough times! So happy he's back with new material.

We all have favorite faded fantasy, favorite faded memory, someone we lost. And it doesn't matter how happy we are now, some things never wouldn’t be the same. It's sad and true. I think Damien's faded fantasy is Lisa.

Beautiful song !

This song is so special to me and I saw Damien Rice live. This song vividly encapsulates the feeling of knowing one can have all of the love and pretty faces but none of it is the same as having that one and only person. Irreplaceable. This person has such an impact on him that he is afraid of just letting that love in. I can empathize with this as my soul goes deep but I can’t really relate because I am happily married and so in love. This song just helps me relax and the music brings a fantasy state of mind vibe, somewhat haunting especially with Damien’s voice. I just love listening to this song!

This song is about finally understanding that we all have that “one & only”. That no matter what you’ve gone through, past or future relationships, this one remains. This person helps you, inspires you to be better for you. We all believe this person to be our “favorite faded fantasy”, but sometimes in life this person doesn’t stay a fantasy anymore, they materialize.

I've never loved sounds so much similar to I never loved you in James Hillier Blount's Here We Go Again or On My Own. These songs work on the same romantic seeking principle.
