Everything Is Wrong Lyrics
Truly, truly, truly real
Enter the override, how we run the day
Sleeker and cheaper, the wind changed
Following deeper, they hear what I say
Spectral incentives have paved the way
Everything is wrong, wrong, everything is wrong
I guess we hope in time, what is now, is overcome
Truly, truly, truly real
I think I know why, I say what I say
Inverse achievements, I rue the days
Am I more soulful? Or am I coming down now?
Can we start over as agents of peace?
Everything is wrong, wrong, everything is wrong
All we have is time, but my heart is going numb
We're taking a part of both of us, but nobody likes to wait
Everything is wrong, truly wrong
Everything is wrong
Everything is wrong
...truly
Truly, truly, truly real
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
We made our home, without begging your pardon
We made our home, with time alone
It's taking apart the best of us,
And nobody likes to wait
Everything is wrong, truly wrong,
Everything is wrong
Sleeker and cheaper, the wind changed
Following deeper, they hear what I say
Spectral incentives have paved the way
I guess we hope in time, what is now, is overcome
Inverse achievements, I rue the days
Am I more soulful? Or am I coming down now?
Can we start over as agents of peace?
All we have is time, but my heart is going numb
We're taking a part of both of us, but nobody likes to wait
Everything is wrong, truly wrong
Everything is wrong
Everything is wrong
Truly, truly, truly real
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
We made our home, with time alone
It's taking apart the best of us,
And nobody likes to wait
Everything is wrong

I see a couple possible interpretations for this song, especially with the music video.
The first is simple and is just a moralistic story about not being an uncaring narcissistic douche. Kind of like Paul is in the video. Don't let striving for success or attaining it turn you into an unkind person, etc. Be true to yourself.
The second is interesting in that it could be about a person with a mental illness, which would explain the song name and a lot of the lyrics. The song and video could be an attempt to humanize them more than just saying 'they're crazy'. The video feels like the three band members have completely different personalities. One is self-centered and an angry hustler, another is kind and cheery and high status, and the last is kind of paranoid yet nice and reflective. Yet at the end of the video they all unite to play some kick ass music. Also, there's one part in the video where all of them are eating the same ice cream.

@simpledesprit Agree. The main lyrics are wrong, the one of yours are correct.

@simpledesprit yes, the lyrics are wrong - would be nice if we could update them somehow.

this should have been the first song on the album
Can anyone tell about what is that song, it is my fav on the album and i have no idea whats about. Help.
I think this song could almost be like a promise interpol is making to it's fans. It's like they're saying "we won't turn into one of those bands that's only into money. We love what we do and won't change." I think that's especially applicable to the music video. When they say "we made our home with time alone" makes total sense when it comes to the band. Lovely song overall.
I think this song is about how we are all going through the days of our lives, and how it turns out not to be that perfect road, not the perfects stroll through the idealistic "garden" of our lives, but rather something that's coming out as truly wrong to us. Sometimes we find ourselves in places where we're going backwards, or in doubts over whether or not our paths are right, and whether or not we lost on the maps of our soul and our life. And sometimes we see that it really wasn't perfect, but wasn't right or wrong too, and what made us and our lives may actually be not that much, maybe even just only that very days that we lived through, and even this much has "taken apart the best of us", and we're exhausted to the point where our hearts has become numb, but, nevertheless, it is what made us who we are right now, and this is our treasure, and despite the more-rhetorical statement that everything is wrong, everything was also truly real, as the constant ticking refrain in the song reminds us.
