Years Of War Lyrics
Take one last look at what you're leaving behind, cause there's no coming back once we go
We are the children of an innocent crime, and its time to take down the throne
Although their heads may shake, we'll set the city ablaze for their treachery
We'll spill their blood and set our fathers free
Oohooh, two hundred years of war
Fight 'till we are no more
A curse on the streets of gold, oohooh
Just know
That mine is a hand to hold
Take back what the kingdom stole
A curse on the streets of gold
Oohooh, two hundred years of war
Fight 'till we are no more
A curse on the streets of gold, oohooh
Just know
That mine is a hand to hold
Take back what the kingdom stole
A curse on the streets of gold
We are the children of an innocent crime, and its time to take down the throne
Although their heads may shake, we'll set the city ablaze for their treachery
We'll spill their blood and set our fathers free
Fight 'till we are no more
A curse on the streets of gold, oohooh
Just know
That mine is a hand to hold
Take back what the kingdom stole
A curse on the streets of gold
Fight 'till we are no more
A curse on the streets of gold, oohooh
Just know
That mine is a hand to hold
Take back what the kingdom stole
A curse on the streets of gold

Cambridge Dictionary defines "Streets of Gold" as "said about a place where it is easy to get rich, or where people imagine that it is: Immigrant families soon discovered that the streets of New York were not paved with gold." It may also be noteworthy that "The Wizard of Oz was a commentary about the 'ongoing debates over the gold-standard monetary policy of the times'. The yellow brick road serves as a direct metaphor to the creation of the gold standard." Also, given the release date of the song, which, without checking, I wanna guess its around 2012, roughly 200 years before would be 1812. Which of course brings to mind: "The War of 1812 was a conflict between the United States and Great Britain that lasted from 1812 to 1815. It was the first major test of the American republic on the world stage. The war was fought over a number of issues." Many theorize that it wasnt so much of a 3 year war, but rather the beginning of a string of conflicts that some would say is still going on to this day. In simpler terms, I think this song is like a call for a regime change, a call for "a war to end all wars", so, fighting a war with the intent of ending the conflict, rather than holding rank as the top dog of the world.
I believe that clearly the "war" is the never ending battle between heaven and hell. "Although their heads may shake" take back what the kingdom(heaven/God) stole. Basically saying that it's high time to stop denying what we are. We're all born sinners.
Sounds like a battle anthem for the Sons of Beelzebub. The throne, the kingdom, the streets of gold all represents the domain of God. The kingdom "stole" the power of death from the dragon at the crucifixion, and the "fathers" who are locked in the earth (Tartarus, Sheol) for their crimes desire nothing more than to see the city of God burn.
The black cube of Saturn in the "hand to hold" on the cover art confirms this is the theme of this album.
