To me, this sounds like a couple that are in a bad patch of their relationship but they refuse to bring the problem to the surface. They'd rather not acknowledge the problem, and keep walking on like nothing is wrong.
I feel its about someone finding out that something terrible happened to their loved one, and slowly working through it together. Maybe its because the first time I heard this song it was on an episode of "The Closer" and a boy had been raped, but that's still what comes to mind.
It makes me think of when my dad found out what had happened to me as a child, and the slow process into recovery.
I came across this song when I was going through a particular phase of my life and the song really spoke to me. I was in love with my best friend and so was she. However we knew it couldn't last since we came from different religions and our families wouldn't accept our union. So when I heard this song I felt that it was a person telling their lover to not think of the future and just enjoy the moment - walking blind :)
This song is about someone cheating on their partner (or some other issue the couple is faced with), and their choice to either end the relationship or fight for what they have. If they don't admit what they want, the truth remains buried and they essentially walk blind to how the other one feels. You have to know, you have to work it out, otherwise it's not a relationship. It's a lie you tell yourself.
