All Of The Stars Lyrics
It's just another night
And I'm staring at the moon
Saw a shooting star
And thought of you
I sang a lullaby
By the waterside
I knew, if you were here
I'd sing to you
You're on the other side
As the sky line splits in two
Miles away from seeing you
But I can see the stars from America
I wonder, do you see them too?
So open your eyes and see
The way our horizons meet
And all of the lights will lead
Into the night with me
And I know these scars will bleed
But both of our hearts believe
All of these stars will guide us home
I can hear your heart
On the radio beat
They're playing 'Chasing Cars'
And I thought of us
Back to the time,
You were lying next to me
I looked across and fell in love
So I took your hand
Back through lamp-lit streets I knew
Everything led back to you
So can you see the stars?
Over Amsterdam
You're the song my heart is beating to
So open your eyes and see
The way our horizons meet
And all of the lights will lead
Into the night with me
And I know these scars will bleed
But both of our hearts believe
All of these stars will guide us home
And, oh, I know
And oh, I know, oh
I can see the stars
From America
And I'm staring at the moon
Saw a shooting star
And thought of you
I sang a lullaby
By the waterside
I knew, if you were here
I'd sing to you
As the sky line splits in two
Miles away from seeing you
But I can see the stars from America
I wonder, do you see them too?
The way our horizons meet
And all of the lights will lead
Into the night with me
And I know these scars will bleed
But both of our hearts believe
All of these stars will guide us home
On the radio beat
They're playing 'Chasing Cars'
And I thought of us
Back to the time,
You were lying next to me
I looked across and fell in love
Back through lamp-lit streets I knew
Everything led back to you
So can you see the stars?

You're the song my heart is beating to
The way our horizons meet
And all of the lights will lead
Into the night with me
And I know these scars will bleed
But both of our hearts believe
All of these stars will guide us home
And oh, I know, oh
I can see the stars
From America

WHY IS THIS SONG SO PERFECT?!?!?! I'm not sure which destroyed my feels more, listening to this or when I read TFIOS for the first time????
This song could actually mean two things. The more obvious scenario is that two people were in love and one died. But it might just be about two people who are simply miles away from each other; one in America and one in Amsterdam. He says "Miles away from seeing you, I can see the stars from America. ... So can you see the stars over Amsterdam?" But maybe Amsterdam is a memory, like in The Fault In Our Stars. I don't know. Either way it's a beautiful song.
I Can't even be bothered to analyse this song, as it doesn't need to be! The lyrics speak for themselves and it is just so emotional!
THIS SONG MAKES ME CRY SO MUCH BC AGUSTUS WATERS OMFG. THIS SONG TELLS THEIR STORY AND I LOVE IT. ED SHEERAN HAS A WAY OF INCORPORATING STORIES INTO HIS SONGS. (Like in the ending credits song for The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, "I See Fire" he tells the story about the dragon and the company) HE EVEN TALKS ABOUT AMSTERDAM OMG.
With that said, I think this song is telling a story of two people who fell in love and having one of them pass away. The other one is reminiscing and looking up at the sky, missing them. It is a beautiful song and The Fault In Our Stars is perfect a beautiful story.
But know that the the pain stops, even if it takes a long time before it does. You will look back on every bit of what you had with a smile, even on the bad parts.
Nice words, made me think of another song which brings back memories..."look out the left the captain said, those lights down there that's where we'll land, I saw a shooting star burn up, high above the Las Vegas sand.....drinking sweet Champagne, got the headphones up high, can numb you out of my mind, they're singing goodbye baby, baby bye bye, ooh love is blind....
