Fans are the sometimes the worst enemy of the group

when a writer (or a band) wants to try new or different stuff the fans (some at least) freak! "They are selling out!" is always the cry . . . good for these guys!

Maybe they just wanna follow the "fever" - "write it, record it, perform it" . . . fever = passion

Okay I've thought this song through, and I can say this song is a story:

from what I can tell, this song Is about someone who gave up on their dreams to do something else, although I'm still iffy on some of the lyrics, but why I think this is that the so called 'fever' is that persons dreams.

The lyrics in the first verse are off. It's "Acting right is so routine", not "acting out of certainty", and it's "fever that misunderstood", not "fever let me sun screw". Hope that clears up interpretation confusion as "sun screw" has no meaning, it is a pure nonsense phrase.

The meaning of this song could be related to the lead singer's divorce. The "fever" would be his wife, who's presence in his life used to be everything he lived for, but is now a curse. "Fever got me guilty","Fever got me stressing, realize I am to blame"- Her demands are making him feel terrible about living his life and pursuing his music career.

I honestly perceive it as the "fever" is his significant other... He's begging throughout the song then towards the end he tells himself "you know not to leave her.. fever" therefore no matter how much pain and agony he's going through he wont leave her, making "her" the "fever"
