Heritage Lyrics
"He who cannot draw upon three thousand years
Is living from hand to mouth."
If there is wisdom, let's hope to find it here.
Come to know all thoughts advance era to era,
And so if you wish to understand modern process,
Look behind and witness conception.
Now, stand on the shoulders of history's tallest thinkers.
See that their height is borrowed from predecessors,
And even the worst ideas can spur better conceptions,
Pushing humankind along an evolutionary rite of passage.
Take a look and come to know all thoughts advance era to era,
And so if you wish to understand modern process,
Look behind and witness conception, and progress.
We'll be tomorrow's heritage -
The giants of advancing thought.
But if only we respect the statuesque preceding.
Let's be tomorrow's heritage -
The giants of advancing thought.
Let us respect the work of statuesque preceding.
Is living from hand to mouth."
If there is wisdom, let's hope to find it here.
And so if you wish to understand modern process,
Look behind and witness conception.
See that their height is borrowed from predecessors,
And even the worst ideas can spur better conceptions,
Pushing humankind along an evolutionary rite of passage.
And so if you wish to understand modern process,
Look behind and witness conception, and progress.
The giants of advancing thought.
But if only we respect the statuesque preceding.
The giants of advancing thought.
Let us respect the work of statuesque preceding.

This song starts out with a quote from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The exact quote is as follows:
"He who cannot draw on three thousand years is living from hand to mouth"
Living hand-to-mouth is a phrase describing someone who merely lives to sustain their life. A person not drawing in experiences, thoughts, and feelings from millenniums are such people, living a selfish life dedicated to just living.
Feelings, thoughts, ideas, and inventions progress and evolve through time; we springboard off of the knowledge of those in the past to propel us in the present and future. We stand on the elevated ground of those before us, just as they did for those before them. As we use the knowledge of the past, we can reach higher towards various forms of enlightenment (spiritual, emotional, economic, intellectual, etc.).
The title, Heritage, has two meanings in the context of this song: the legacy of the past that we inherit through time moves us forward, and as time goes forward, we will be the heritage that drives the future.
