Roam The Room Lyrics

Did the weight and all the pressure weed you out?
You got away, but I still carry you around.
I carry you around.
I want to know what I've been fighting for.
I want to know what I've become.
And is there something else I'm waiting for?
Or is the damage finally done?
Cause I'm done.
I'm done.

And it's hard to watch you roam the room.
To watch you from the wall.
And it's all I've got to think about.
It's hard to watch you roam the room.
To watch you from the wall.
And every day gets old

Did you speak the words, or say nothing at all?
And how did you find a way to speak up when I'd call?
And when your friends say I'm a waste of time,
Then you can find out on your own.
And if it's coming down to pick a side,
Then you can decide where to go.

And it's hard to watch you roam the room.
To watch you from the wall.
And it's all I've got to think about.
It's hard to watch you roam the room.
To watch you from the wall.
And every day gets old

Cause I'm done.

It seems like a self-reflection on how the singer met the love interest in question. It's a perspective from a shy self conscious person on how this person was consumed by this person. The interests friends are saying you should have nothing to do with them; your not worth their time. How can you take that as a truth when you don't know the person in question? It comes across as saying that you should put your own experiences with a person before other's and live by your own judgment before that of others who might not know that person. @ JuanSattva.

I agree that the song is a prespective from a shy self conscious person, consumed as well, but in a way, the feeling comes out as if he's known the person. The first line seems to explain that he's the one putting pressure on whatever it is, being a person or something else.

"Did the weight and all the pressure weed you out? You got away, but I still carry you around. I carry you around."

In a sense, he drove it away. And they left, left him behind, but he still carries that sense of blame on himself for that reason. It's a song about him wondering about closure.

"I want to know what I've been fighting for. I want to know what I've become. And is there something else I'm waiting for? Or is the damage finally done?"

That part above meaning that he's unsure what he left behind, what he could of been for it, or should have been for it while accepting all the damage already contributed. And the room is a reference to his own mind. She lingers around and "roams" around in the room all day, and it's hard for him to watch, because he never found closure.

"Did you speak the words, or say nothing at all? And how did you find a way to speak up when I'd call? And when your friends say I'm a waste of time, Then you can find out on your own. And if it's coming down to pick a side, Then you can decide where to go"

He always came back to what he wanted. Always wanting another chance. " You can find out for your own." - And with "Your friends says I'm a waste of time." To me it implies they know about their past, so they know that he likes to get up and leave and come back, for some reason.
