Nothing But Trouble Lyrics

Do you ever have the feeling
That you constantly been dreaming this is life
Everyone I know is not around
And Lucy's still been crawling underground

They're eating all my shotgun smiles
Yeah eating all my shotgun smiles
I'm nothing, I see nothing but double

Don't listen to me
I'm nothing but trouble
I'm losing my mind

I don't want wanna see another night
No I don't want to taste another life
The walls are breathing in and now I
Continue to deny another

They're eating all my shotgun smiles
Yeah eating all my shotgun smiles
I'm nothing, I see nothing but double

Don't listen to me
I'm nothing but trouble
I'm losing my mind [x2]

I could be off-base, but this really seems to me to be about a person (gender unimportant) who only feels confident or important or even validated when stealing someone else's love. This person HATES what they do, but it continues to be the only way they feel quantified to themselves. However, the reputation is pushing away everyone they once called friend.

It may also refer to this person stealing one specific lover. "They" in the bridge referring to the former couple and the individual's insincere assurance that all is well. The regret is gripping this person every night they are with their stolen lover.

Personally, I think this song is about questionable decisions. Knowing what decision you are making and still making it, and then grinning and bearing that knowledge. It can make you a mess, for certain.
