Parade Lyrics
Porch swings and unlocked cars
The picket fence guards modest dreams
Rebel boys in suped-up cars
Gather at the Dairy Queen
And everybody cheers the home team
[Chorus:]
I never knew you knew me
Until you drove right through me
Just like a Mason on parade
On parade, on parade
VFW hall
Dances on Saturday Night
Bring the one you love
But don't hold them too tight
Because the chaperone is god's ears and eyes
[repeat chorus]
Still life from the football stands
Watching the days go by
Above the fields and water tower
I see myself and I
Spread my wings so that I can fly
[repeat chorus]
Mrs. lunch lady smile at me please
[repeat chorus]
The picket fence guards modest dreams
Rebel boys in suped-up cars
Gather at the Dairy Queen
And everybody cheers the home team
I never knew you knew me
Until you drove right through me
Just like a Mason on parade
On parade, on parade
Dances on Saturday Night
Bring the one you love
But don't hold them too tight
Because the chaperone is god's ears and eyes
Watching the days go by
Above the fields and water tower
I see myself and I
Spread my wings so that I can fly

This is essentially a reminiscence of Josh's youth and growing up in Lancaster, PA. Being roughly the same age as Josh, I can say that this seems pretty accurate for small town America back then.
