I Believe Lyrics
I believe that the words that he told you are not your grave.
I know that we are not the weight of all our memories.
I believe in the things that I am afraid to say.
Hold on
And I believe that the darkness reminds us where light can be.
I know that your heart is still beating beating darling.
I believe that you fell so you would land next to me.
Hold on
And I have felt the pain of losing who you are,
And I have died so many times, but I am still alive.
And I believe that your head is the only thing in your way.
I wish that you could see your scars turn into beauty.
I believe that today its okay to be not okay.
Hold on
And I have felt the pain of losing who you are,
And I have died so many times, but I am still alive.
This is the beginning.
(Hold on)
(I'm still alive)

The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the lyrics is a person talking to her best friend who is sad because her boyfriend or someone like that has left her. The girl tells her friend that she has suffered the pain before and is trying to give her support, to give her hope. She tries to tell her that these experiences make us who we are. The song is very motivational and I find that my friends feel better when I sing it to them. Christina is such an awesome lyricist.

Christina Perri wrote this song for the To Write Love On Her Arms shows. It's a non-profit organization which aims to present hope for people struggling with addiction, depression, self injury, and thoughts of suicide while also investing directly into treatment and recovery. So this song is for the people of that organization with Christina basically saying I believe you can get through it, I know what its like, I've been there before, but I'm alive. It's not the end, its the beginning so keep holding on because things will get better.
