Red Dust Lyrics

I will not cave under you
for my heart is an unending tomb
I will not trouble your rest
for my heart is infinity blessed

Ever a hard rot
cut from an ancient cloth of old

Someone is ringing a bell
it chimes through this shimmering shell
that once was my vision of birth
now is my vessel and curse

Heat from the tall lamp
melting the outer wax that holds
blood from a deep cut
some of the reddest stuff to flow

Sometimes my hands they don't feel like my own
I need someone to love
I need someone to hold

Cover art for Red Dust lyrics by James Vincent McMorrow

This beautiful song from an amazing album is about being a human being, flesh and blood, facing love throughout it and understanding the spaces and limits between people. We live through these endless meaningless spirals in life (the rot) and we only have ourselves to count on if we truly want to be happy. When our feelings are triggered (someone is ringing a bell) it reminds us that our body and soul are always connected as we feel this shimmering and it reminds us of great pain that we also harbor. this is the setting point for the last line - after the song begins with declaring our independence and self sufficiency while gurading ourselves from pain, here we see that eventually we all needlove and need to face love and the pain and feelings it may stir up.

@guygef wow... I heard this song (solo version), and how you described it, is exactly how I felt. I felt that way even before I understood the lyrics. I got goosebumps reading your comment. THANK YOU
