Inside Out Lyrics
Will I be able to speak
After a stiff drink
Would it break my panic
Would the sweat stop pouring out
Slow and deliberate
With her words
She'll walk through
My heart
Those eyes light a fire
In my stomach
Fall apart
From the inside out
After a stiff drink
Would it break my panic
Would the sweat stop pouring out
With her words
She'll walk through
My heart
In my stomach
Fall apart
From the inside out

I believe "Inside Out” is about the writer falling in love, but lacking the social skills and courage to confess his feelings.
my thoughts on the meaning of this song haven't changed since the first time i heard it many years ago. i've always thought the lyrics to inside out were extremely depressing. anyways:
it's a story somewhere along the lines of a guy numbing his pain through substance abuse, and longing for a woman whom he can never have. so substance abuse and unrequited love. i think that theme represents the most painful, worst feeling a human being can experience in their lifetime. that and the general tragic idea of an impossible love between two people who love each other so much yet cant be together. and death too. death can be hard. three worst things in the world
it's a really painful song but it makes me happy when i want it to let it feel happy. i found in my notes from a few years ago a non-sober interpretation of the song: "its like the song is all breathing each other" lol. it makes a lot of sense to me even sober but most people i showed it to disagreed. when a song means so much to you, you can really understand nonsense related to it i think. maybe i'm crazy
