You and I

I think this song is talking about being in a relationship where the two are drastically different, if not, opposites. They reference many opposites (i.e. day and night, silence and sound, up and down, wrong and right, black and white, etc.) stating that they understand what it's like for them, however, the relationship is much too strong ("not even the gods above could separate the two of us") to be broken apart by their differences or anything else for that matter. Despite what may come their way they're going to fight through it together ("but they never tried like us").

I find this a very sweet song about getting through the tough spots of relationships in order to be with the person you truly love.

This song is clearly talking about a relationship in which it's very difficult for them to be together, we may even think that it's talking about a gay relationship, "You and I, we don't wanna be like them" they're talking about being different and not wanting to change, not wanting to be exactly like the others, "we can make it till the end, nothing can come between You and I, not even the gods above..." It's very clear that no matter what they will always be together, nothing and no one can separate them because their love is stronger than anything. "Did they ever hold each other tight like us? Dis they ever fight like us?" In here they're saying that nobody ever fought as hard as them to keep their love strong because of the difficulties of having a relationship like that. "Cause they see things in a different light like us, but they never treys like us" society and people still not accepting gay relationships but they don't care, that's the part where they'll always try to stay together and strong. "We can make it if we try" in the end they'll be able to be together, cause love is all that matters.

I agree that this song is about a relationship. However my interpretation for the part regarding the word "fight" here in context is different. I am going to use first person perspective to explain it clearer.

The fight here does not mean fighting against each other...it's fight to keep each other together despite the differences.

Note it says: Fight, LIKE US to "meet in the middle" which is opposed to Fight, LIKE THEM...as can be seen in the next line that follows "We don't wanna be like them" ("like them" meaning the rest of the average couple).

Because if we fight FOR each other...only then "we can make it 'til the end" and nothing will come between us.

I feel like this song is more than just a love song but also a song about love in general. I feel like the video demonstrates that nothing can stop the boys and their brotherly love for one another is more powerful than anything else.

I think this song is about two completely different persons in a relationship, but even with their differences, their love keeps them together, they keep fighting for each other and never let go of each other.

For me I think this song is about when the relationship isn't exactly the perfect relationship and they go through so many things together, however they really do love each other.

Like when it says "Do they ever fight like us?" it's like saying do other couples fight like us, do they love like we do when we fight?

I don't really know if that made sense but that's what I kind of feel.

this song is about the times you are worry about your own relationship; when you see a seperated couple(that you used to think they love each other), when you see a real fight..............and when you see some similar signs in your own life.

I have a very different perspective for this song and maybe it has to do with my outlook. I see it as if his parents are divorced and he is realizing that true love exists and is possible. He is saying that he doesn't want to en up like his parents and wants to get through it and stay together.

I feel like this song might be about a gay relationship. When it says "I know how it goes from wrong and right", it could suggest a gay relationship because media can portray homosexuality in a negative light. Also, when it says " I see what it's like I see what it's like for day and night Never together 'Cause they see things in a different light Like us, but they never tried Like us" it could be referring to how sometimes people in gay relationships are looked down on and separated. For example, hiding homosexuality and being separated from a person you love just for the sake of money and image is very common in boy bands. But that's just my interpretation. It's honestly just a guess.

I think You And I by One Direction is about two people (does not have to be a couple specifically) that are different from each other. besides their differences they still love each other dearly and the want to be themselves and nothing can come between the two because their differences make them who they are together
