Flatlands Lyrics

I want flatlands
I never cared about money and all its friends
I want flatlands
I want flatlands
I don't want precious stones
I never cared about anything you've ever owned
I want flatlands
I want simplicity
I need your arms wrapped hard around me
I want open plains and scattered trees
I want flower fields
I want salty seas
I want flatlands soft and steady breeze
bringing scents of lined-up orchard trees
dripping heavy with pears and dancing leaves
I want flatlands
will you go there with me
when it's said in the dark and you know it's always there
when it's dead in our heart but your mind is unafraid
when it's said in the dark and you know it's never coming back
when it's there in your heart in your mind you set it free

Wow, being that Chelsea is from Sacramento, California.... a love song for the agricultural and fruit lands of central Cal.

A beautiful song for sure.

My Interpretation

@Spindrift300 3 years late... I'm from that area and there's nothing to be in love with. Maybe cow poop smell and dusty snot. :D It's not that terrible actually, and yes, it's a beautiful song.

This song to me personally is about wanting to have a one on one connection with someone very special... It's about leaving the noise of the world and people who constantly spend their lives striving to be the richest, the best, most popular and simply not caring about such mundane things, but the feeling behind being in complete solitude. Easing your mind and body. Silencing the chatter. Its a place where money doesn't matter but who a person is inside, without cloaks and facades. Its wanting peace and quiet but wanting some body to join that journey.. "Will you go there with me..?" Its expressing to a lover that you just want to be in their presence, that its okay to be alone... We don't need money, we don't need others approval. I don't need diamonds and pearls, but being alone with you is such a comfortable feeling...

It could potentially even be about being with someone who feels they always have something to prove...Its feelings from her that are difficult to express that are deep inside and hard to reach the surface because the other person just isn't getting it... She's saying its just the simplicity of us being as one and essentially not needing anything else material wise or some grand accomplishment to be shown... We have each other and thats all that matters
