When the Rain Comes

The season changed, and it shot across the the sky
Like I hadn’t already known
My mind ran off, my eyes are going blind
My legs have long turned to stone
The city breathes, I can feel it in the air
As it comes to me in the night
I didn’t think this would happen all so fast
But I always knew that it might
So when the rain comes
I will welcome it with open arms
What else am I supposed to do?
When the rain comes
I’ll be clean and you’ll be on my mind
Know I’ll be on my way soon
Looking back, this has happened all before
To myself and many people more
I’ve been lost so many times, I’ve crossed a few too many lines
But I’ve always known how to find
My way to what is true
But what is true?
So when the rain comes
I will welcome it with open arms
What else am I supposed to do?

Know I’ll be on my way soon
Because every sky, and every passing pair of eyes
Will know exactly what I mean
I’ve yet to find the thing that’s keeping us alive
But I do know, there is no in between
So when the rain comes
