A girl that is probably more than somewhat abrasive "you can take me down". Putting up a front of being stronger than she is "You hide your battle scars" but the singer knows she wants to be loved, knows she'd date him or even just go home with him if he tried. He just wants to go slowly. Girls aren't always the bitches they appear to be on the outside and some people can see that.

This song is about a girl who has her guard up and is in a relationship with the narrator. She still has trouble sharing what she thinks though, for fear the narrator will not like her anymore. The narrator realizes this and is trying to express to her that it is alright to share things w/ him. "Girl you know I like you/Girl you make me crazy." He knows she wants to be able to confide in someone and let her guard down, but she is too scared to do so, "I know that'd you be up for it." This song is about trust and knowing when can and when you can't trust someone, "You hide your battle scars when I'm around:" she has a history of having to protect herself/others so she doesn't trust easily. She is typically the protector, not the protected, but would like to be, but she doesn't know how.
