I think this song is about the humility and hate you have for yourself when you know that you would take someone back even though they weren't fair to you in the relationship.
Throughout the song, Nick says how much he hates himself for having the feelings that he is having and then continues to remind the girl he singing about that if she ever decides to come back he will always want her. He is admittedly proclaiming that he knows that wanting the girl back isn't really the right thing but that his heart is "making him this way" and that he can't do anything but watch the girl go away.
he has no idea of how to see how the girl feels. All he knows is that he would accept her after all the pain that she has caused him, which is an embarrassing but relevant truth. He is letting his guard down. He is truly saying I can't stop thinking about you or missing you even though the girl left him broken and destroyed. I really believe that he wishes that he could simply move on.
