I see it as a fear of time and how things around us, including time, move so fast and how we should just be in the moment with the person we claim to love or have a true friendship with. I also think the fear causes us to realize that we need to cherish and really appreciate the love we have for our loved one because we only have so much time here.
This song reminds me of my almost relationship - we were both really into music, and it became intense very quickly. But somehow our communication also broke down very fast. My fears didn't help... as the song says the world is not forgiving of them.
If only we realized that all we needed was to shut up and be still... let things flow.
