Don't You Dare Forget the Sun Lyrics

Your a mess tangled with your confidence
You think you're heaven sent
Well you're unstoppable,
Your walls are impassible oh!
I think you're better off looking alone,
The boys that chase your hips can just go find their way home
And at the end of the day you think to yourself
My body is a product being sold on the shelf
Tell me I can change
Tell me I can change

Well I know you lay in bed,
Contemplating your own death
Well just look at what you've done
Don't you dare forget the sun, Love!
(Don't forget!)

Cold white walls keep you from your pad and pen
You wanna stab again,
I can't believe its half this hard,
You never knew your mind was dark no!
I think your better off looking alone
The boys that chase your hips can just go find their way home
You can dig so deep for scars
You never knew your mind was dark
Come on and breathe with me oh!
Breathe with oh!

Well I know you lay in bed
Contemplating your own death
Well just look at what you've done
Don't you dare forget the sun, Love!
You look down on me so casually, in everything I know
You look down on me, but not right on me; did I wreck this broken home?

Dear Diary,
Life is trying me
Can I get a sign?
Or a two of mind, a piece of mind
Can I get a sign (a sign), can I get a sign (I know)

Well I know you lay in bed,
Contemplating your own death
Well just look at what you've done
Don't you dare forget the sun, Love!
You look down on me so casually, in everything I know
You look down on me, but not right on me
Is it plain to see that life is trying me?

Life is trying me!
Life is trying
Can I think of something, gotta think of something!

Music can have several different meanings to different people. It all really depends on who you are and the experiences you have had. This is what I got from the lyrics:

It's a song about someone (likely a female) that is a suicidal psychopath. They try to hide their insanity, but at one point, it grows to be too much and they try to kill themselves. They were interrupted and taken to an insane asylum, "Cold white walls" being their cell. At first I thought that the phrase "you just want to stab again" was referencing that this person is in prison for murder. After listening closer, I realized that it was talking about self harm. I'm pretty sure you get the idea.

My Interpretation

@TheCryingRaven I think that it's less being insane more of if you are suicidal and actually act one it and show signs of wanting or possibly wanting to try again they may be checked into an "insane" asylum, speaking from experience

forgot to add that being depressed and suicidal is a mental illness so technically the person being portrayed is "insane" in away, it's just unlikely it is psychopathy

These lyrics are horribly wrong :( I submitted my own a few weeks ago but it hasn't been changed, which sucks ass. "My body isn't proud of me and so are the shells." ??? Wtf? It's, "my body is a product being sold on the shelf". Do research before submitting shit you think is right. Acoustic versions are usually easier when it comes to hearing the words correctly

@BlueSketch Agreed mate agreed

Basically, the music video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5epT4GEfoOE) explains the second verse, and the song itself.

The First Part: He's saying that you're doing something you know is wrong, but you do it anyway. You're all caught up in your confidence, but you're a total wreck.

"You can dig so deep for scars, You never knew your mind was dark. Come on and breathe with me, oh! Breathe with me, oh!"

You can mess up pretty bad, but it's okay.

You look down on, me so casually, In everything I know. You look down on me, but not right on me. Is it plain to see, that life is trying me?

Their families and strangers call you a "Whore", or whatever.

You can take this song in many different ways. I take it personally since it has a meaning to it which the music video doesn't give off, but that's just me. My personal meaning to it is self harm and suicide, and I honestly think that that's what the song is about since Joel Faviere's (singer) single songs are about it, and the band sings about it too, in every song, if you listen hard enough.
