All Time Low Lyrics

go
i've heard all I need to know
your voice in fucking echo stereo
well this particular scenario
looks like another all time low
why did you go and let them in
see this is where the fun begins
you haven't even pierced the skin
just wait till you see what is coming

get down on the floor
shut the goddamn door
been down this road before
we're coming back for more

so give me just a little baby
just something to get by
this is gonna last forever baby
we'll get to the other side
and we will live forever baby
and stretch across the sky
i will follow right behind you baby
we are never gonna die

hey
everything is not okay
we lost too much along the way
the passengers arrived today
it looks as though they're here to stay
this paranoia turns to fear
just who was whispering in your ear?
pretending but I know you hear
(just how'd we fucking end up here?)

we're never gonna die
how did we get so high?

stretch across the sky, ooh

I think this is about being depressive ("looks like another all time low"), and trying to escape this either through drugs ("you barely even pierced the skin") or sex ("get down on the floor. shut the god damn door") or both. It's a concept similar to the one of "Closer", i.e., trying to escape sadness/hopelessness through activities that lead to physical pleasure.

Self analyzation of early NIN. Trent remembering what it was like at the beginning. Fueled by every low, and letting them out in forms of songs. Awesome songs. (had to say it)

His voice in echo stereo. The song being another one of his all time lows. He barely just got into drugs (no heroin yet), had no idea what was coming.

For those of you who don't know what all happened to him, its very interesting you should read up . wiki "la mer"..

Anyways, more lyrics about drug use. coming back for more. Crys for help. In so many of his songs what he is basically saying is, "Hey! Everything isn't okay"

The end makes me want to think he's getting to the point where he can't ignore signs anymore that NINs dying out.

And that now it's time to advertise... Advertise everything so everyone can see it and "stretch across the sky"

IDK that last part was pretty much typed out without thinking.

I wonder if I'm the only one who gets this strange end-time post-apocalyptic feeling while listening to this song... It sounds like a follow-up to the events of Year Zero (this connection gets even more evident in Satellite).

The lyrics are quite out-of-this-world. So as the music in chorus.

"We've done this all before, coming back for more" reminds me the famous law of history repeating itself. A continuous idea in the album btw.

"It's gonna last forever baby we'll get to the other side And we will live forever baby and stretch across the sky I'll follow right behind you baby We're never gonna die"

This whole piece is someone's promise of eternal life and freedom to his lover. You can't be more obvious. It sounds like "Don't be afraid baby, the night is almost over. And I will be by your side forever." This is being said in a very aware and confident manner. Like the words of a man who has already been to the other side, hence the calm voice.

I know. Nobody believes that the world will end after what happened (or not happened) in Dec 2012, but you should all know - shit happens when you least expect it))

Btw, I'm not religious...

Anybody else get the feeling that "the passengers arrived today" might be a reference to those ones lining up at the station from "Into The Void"?

It does seem like this song is pretty heavily laden will self-reference.

I think this is similar to Closer in every way. Trying to get out of an "all time low" through pleasure and then magnifying such pleasures (it's gonna last forever, we're never gonna die) maybe in an attempt to overcompensate.

drugs.

The music is a perfect expression of the wildest party where no one is having any fun. It's all about being trapped in the old self-destructive spiral, but being all too aware of it, and impotently pissed off about it.

lol at the Final Fantasy theme at the end.

Seems pretty clear to me that it is about his addiction to heroin at that time
