Big TV Lyrics
Slow
I'm gonna settle down slow
Down to the home of
Electric life and soul
Faith
In my hands a trait
But for the word I
The light of a bitter say
And you can get me work
But I can't work for free
I've got a room downtown
With a bed and a big TV
If you can raise a star
From garbage on the street
Then you can make a modern life
For a modern girl to lead
Alone
I feel alone
When I'm living in a building
Like a tooth in heaven's throat
True
It's a beautiful view
But you know they're gonna set it on fire
When they feel like something new
And you can get me work
But I can't work for free
I've got a room downtown
With a bed and a big TV
If you can raise a star
From garbage on the street
Then you can make a modern life
For a modern girl to lead
But why can't anything be real?
Emotion like the movies feel
[?]
So bring me to the hand of fate
The river on a new
So I can wash the empty hours away
But why can't anything be real?
Emotion like the movies feel
So bring me to the hand of fate
The river on a new arcade
And you can get me work
But I can't work for free
I've got a room downtown
With a bed and a big TV
If you can raise a star
From garbage on the street
Then you can make a modern life
For a modern girl to lead
Cause I'm living in a room downtown
With a bed and a big TV
Cause I'm living in a room downtown
With a bed and a big TV
Cause I'm living in a room downtown
With a bed and a big TV
Cause I'm living in a room downtown

This song really feels like alienation and frustration to me. Almost like the feeling of being trapped in a society that falls short on its promises of happiness and elation. Maybe it is the feeling of being genuine, yet being trapped in a society of superficiality. This is an amazing song!
I think the song is criticism about instants stars being made usually, by reality TV. "If you can raise a star, From garbage on the street" And also for me, it is like criticizing the viewers, which it feels like they are only working for paying their privilege to see those shallow shows on TV.
the speaker is of course telling a story in a cynical manner. "But you know they're gonna set it on fire When they feel like something new"
And maybe the speaker implies he want that he will feel real emotions, not directed or manipulated as it looks on those reality shows: but it is ironic, because he do says that he wants his feeling to be like on the movies. again directed and manipulated. "But why can't anything be real? Emotion like the movies feel"
you can think that maybe, we don't actually know what true real feelings is because we are only see them via TV shows and movies - and actually live our lives.
for me this is a truly amazing song and i totally Identify with every line.
