Litost is a Czech word that doesn't have a clear definition in the English language, but it pretty much means a state of torment brought on by the realization of one's own misery.
This is a gorgeous song. The singer is saying that they are absolutely infatuated with someone, but the other person can't return the love and they keep hurting them. So they keep going back to the relationship even though the other person only uses them. I think that a lot of people would be able to relate to the feeling of overwhelming love despite the other person's failures.

This person has been beaten down, broken by the person they love. They are grasping for a sign that the other person loves them too, but it's not there. They know that they shouldn't hold on but it's too hard to let go completely, so they continue to take the emotiIonal torment caused by loving someone who doesn't love them back. He knows he should walk away, he knows he is better than to take the abuse, but she is his worst addiction. This isn't the first time time he has hurt her ,because he doesn't trust that she will stay. And although he knows she it's destroying who he is, and his confidence, he will go back until he doesnt even know who he is anymore.
