Unconsolable Lyrics

I hope we stay thick as thieves
butter and bread
pillars of colonial homes
and I wish I could shout you out
false start

Don't get your cane caught in the cracks
buckle your seatbelts
polluting the airwaves
single and lonely

And you said you are unconsolable
and you said you are
and you said you are unconsolable
uncontrollable

Come up to my house
drink with my friends
you can lay on my couch
aching to start all over again
going back to your room
wait a minute, it's my room
was it something I said?
Was it something I said?

And you said you are unconsolable
and you said you are
and you said you are unconsolable
uncontrollable

Come up to my house
drink with my friends
you can lay on my couch
aching to start all over again
going back to your room
wait a minute, it's my room
throwing up on my bed
was it something I said, I said?

I hope we stay thick as thieves
butter and bread
pillars of colonial homes
and I wish I could shout you out
false start

Don't get your cane caught in the cracks
buckle your seatbelts
polluting the airwaves
single and lonely

And you said you are unconsolable
and you said you are
and you said you are unconsolable
uncontrollable

The lead vocalist Sam Harris is brothers with the keyboardist Casey Harris who happens to be blind (Don't get your cane caught in the cracks). I believe that he is trying to tell his brother that he will always be supportive of him(Come up to my house drink with my friends you can lay on my couch aching to start all over again going back to your room wait a minute, it's my room was it something I said? Was it something I said?). his brother believes that he is a nuisance and a drawback on how he may live his life, so the lead singer is telling him otherwise and is hoping to keep a close bond with each other.

@elias11208 You nailed it. "butter and bread/pillars of colonial homes" Things that go together and especially evoke childhood and the homestead.

It's obviously a couple, the guy wants the girl to stay with him, to be his close partner as mentioned with 'pillars of colonial homes.' Pillars support the homes and he wants to girl to support him and be there for him but she tells him that's she 'unconsolable' meaning that she doesn't want to be comforted or alleviated or simply doesn't want to be loved by him.
