My cousin showed me this song and he said it was about kids who grow up with gay parents and how that's a bad thing...(I think he was kinda homophobic) but after researching Stromae a bit more, I learned that his dad was murdered in the Tutsi Genocide in Rwanda, so Stromae grew up without a father. I think this is a song about a father who is rarely seen since he works so much as in the song the mother says he has to got to work often. So the boy started to replace his dad for a doll and is asking him where he's hiding and to come back. He often calls him a coward. He sees that the other children have their father as a role model or leader someone to look up to but he doesn't so he keeps saying where are you dad? In hopes of getting him back.
