The Cloak Lyrics

Drink a cup of emptiness
Tame the storm, in your head
Put a lid on your memories
Fighting darkness, with hollowness

Silence serving your need to escape
To think without thinking
Ignoring the cure

Will you cry tomorrow, reflecting on yesterday's action
Cry tomorrow trading your satisfaction

An illusion of peacefulness
Shutting down your senses
Adding colors, would make you burn
This comforting cloak of grey

Silence serving your need to escape
To think without thinking
Ignoring the cure

Will you cry tomorrow, reflecting on yesterday's action
Cry tomorrow trading your satisfaction

Cry tomorrow, reflecting on yesterdays action
Cry tomorrow, trading your satisfaction
Cry tomorrow, reflecting on yesterday's action
Cry tomorrow trading your satisfaction

And when you cry tomorrow
When you cry tomorrow
Cry

It seems to me the song is about someone who has gone through something, possibly abuse, and struggles with it on a daily basis. They try to block it out and ignore the course they are going to have to take to have to get through it.

Instead they have found a coping mechanism, probably drugs. Whether it be drug use or some form of other abuse, it seems that whatever it is it's made a way in to their lives and it's stealing their joy and happiness.

An illusion of peacefulness that shuts down their senses. Greying out the colorful world around them.

My Interpretation
Cover art for The Cloak lyrics by Leprous

Sounds like an absolute apathy to me. Apathy and isolation in loneliness that brings silence and peacefulness that we're all craving for, at least an illusion of it. Life becomes more grey day by day, empty. But this shell is something you can't let go, this cloak. That's how i feel at least, this song perfectly resonates with me.
