Sundream Lyrics
I want to feel that you want it
I want to feel by the morning
I want to feel that you want it
Oh let me feel what you are
Flashes on match heads
Splashes of ashes
Embers arising
Smoke fills the skies in
Wind blows in then crashes
Waves over the ashes
Hills washed up in violet
Eyes close up to hide it
I want to feel that you want it
I want to feel by the morning
I want to feel that you want it
Oh let me feel what you are
I want to feel that you want it
I want to feel by the morning
I want to feel that you want it
Oh let me feel what you are
Freefall in Paris
Sundreams in flashes
Growing and rising
Rain fills the skies in
Sunday morning crashes
Flickering of lashes
Sink into the mattress
Fall into the atlas
Flashes on match heads
Splashes of ashes
Sink in the mattress
Tell me that you want it
I want to feel that you want it
I want to feel by the morning
I want to feel that you want it
Oh let me feel what you are
I want to feel that you want it
I want to feel by the morning
I want to feel that you want it
Oh let me feel what you are
I want to feel by the morning
I want to feel that you want it
Oh let me feel what you are
Splashes of ashes
Embers arising
Smoke fills the skies in
Waves over the ashes
Hills washed up in violet
Eyes close up to hide it
I want to feel by the morning
I want to feel that you want it
Oh let me feel what you are
I want to feel by the morning
I want to feel that you want it
Oh let me feel what you are
Sundreams in flashes
Growing and rising
Rain fills the skies in
Flickering of lashes
Sink into the mattress
Fall into the atlas
Splashes of ashes
Sink in the mattress
Tell me that you want it
I want to feel by the morning
I want to feel that you want it
Oh let me feel what you are
I want to feel by the morning
I want to feel that you want it
Oh let me feel what you are

Not 100% on these lyrics (I transcribed them myself). If you think there should be an amendment please let me know! :)
This song is soooo gorgeous. Probably my favourite from the album. So dreamy... it makes me feel like going on holiday, and relaxing and chilling with somebody I love :)
In this dark interpretation of the song "Sundream," the lyrics can be seen as expressing a yearning for a connection that is laced with a sense of darkness, pain, and longing. The repeated lines highlight a desire to feel wanted and understood, but there's a somber undertone that permeates the verses.
The opening stanza introduces imagery of match heads, ashes, and smoke, evoking a sense of destruction and decay. The flashes and splashes suggest brief moments of intensity and the aftermath of something once vibrant. The rising embers and smoke filling the skies create an atmosphere of turmoil and obscurity.
The following lines continue with a theme of destruction and concealment. The crashing wind and waves over the ashes portray a forceful, tumultuous environment. The hills washed up in violet hint at a haunting beauty tinged with melancholy, while the closing eyes symbolise a desire to hide pain or vulnerability.
The second repetition of the chorus maintains the longing for connection and understanding, but it carries a weightier sense of desperation and craving.
The third stanza introduces the concept of a "freefall in Paris" and "sundreams in flashes." Here, Paris represents a romanticised setting, but the freefall implies a sense of falling into the unknown or into a state of chaos. The growth and rise mentioned suggest a contrast between hope and despair. The rain filling the skies further adds to the sense of sadness and introspection.
The fourth stanza portrays a crash on a Sunday morning, indicating a moment of impact or realization, accompanied by the flickering of lashes, signifying uncertainty and fragility. The sinking into the mattress and falling into the atlas hint at seeking solace or escape through sleep and exploration, respectively.
The repetition of the chorus once again emphasises the longing for reciprocation and understanding, while also amplifying the sense of yearning and vulnerability.
Overall, this interpretation suggests that "Sundream" expresses a desire for connection in the midst of darkness and pain. The imagery used throughout the song paints a picture of destruction, concealment, and a search for solace. It evokes emotions of longing, melancholy, and an intense yearning for validation and acceptance.
