She wants someone who wants someone else
A classic love triangle
As she goes through verse by verse, she talks about how it was, "love at first sight" and how she first started dreaming about the one she wants in the "summertime"
He's always on her mind
But she knows he doesn't want her back and likes someone else instead
Because he wants somebody else She figures he must not be the one for her, despite how much she "needs" him, because if he wants someone else it wouldn't work out between them
Because of this, she refuses eve n to fight for him
Simple, she wants somebody and can't stop thinking about them. But she knows that the feelings are not mutual and her lover has eyes for somebody else. It's the most depressing thing and I think it's liberating to sing about it like this with the upbeat song to try and move on.
