First Blood Lyrics

"Let's go!"

Heads alight 'n it strikes your weather, start the fight
You're shiftin' gears, you're punishing, you step through the night

I know you!
I know you!

Heaven! There's a thunder deep inside of you
It makes you think it's all a dream, it cannot be true

Wheelin' hell!
Wheelin' hell!

Just call me, I'm alone!
Just call me, I'm alone!

His time no one will do
They can break your heart again

Open my love and now my desire
I see you think that is not real but I'm still alive

I know you!
I know you!

Itchin' when the power comes from deep within
I never ran a story that will never begin

Wheelin' hell!
Wheelin' hell!

Just call me, I'm alone!
Just call me, I'm alone!

His time no one will do
They can break your heart again

"That's enough."

Cover art for First Blood lyrics by Kavinsky

“The meaning behind this song is in relation to the “dead cruiser” created by the artist Kavinsky. The dead cruiser has been reborn (see the song “Reborn” – Kavinsky) and is in the perspective of him returning to his old friends/brothers/partners who are still living the same lifestyle before he died. “You're shiftin' gears, you're punishing” and “wheelin’ hell”- meaning he has seen their lifestyle is “Wheelin’ hell” -literally driving them down a path to hell, and that shifting gears and changing paths will not help or stop that fate- they must change and transform THEIRSELVES completely, simply changing their paths, relationships, jobs, cars, etc. will only “punish them” slower because it leads to the same fate. “His time, no one will do, they can break your heart again” emphasizing to them that after he has been reborn, telling them that no person or material thing will heal their hearts, and they will continue to live a life of being broken unless they are reborn. Then saying “Open my love and now my desire, I see you think that is not real but I’m still alive” to emphasize to them to not be afraid to let go of their lives completely to allow their selves to die and be reborn, because he has seen there is no other choice, and now that he has “love” he sees that this was the only way he could heal his heart, and his old lifestyle would continue breaking it if he was not killed and reborn. “I know you, I know you” to remind them that his own “heaven, thunder in them” was once trapped just the same, and “follow me and go” to trust his transformation to lead their own to begin, but also they must move quickly, because the wheel in the sky is turning (“wheelin’ hell”).
