A Tale of Outer Suburbia

I was about to write a long thingi for this, explaining my thought “deeply”. But chrome crashed TWICE so fuck that.

I think this song is about a bear losing his home, the forest, to humans since the humans wants to build a town there. “A thousand unfamiliars are lying thick on the air and I can't breathe”

He later goes rampage mode on the town and dies because of it: “I'll tear apart the town then sleep, and sleep alone.”

“If I'm a flame, I'm a forest fire Speaking savage tongues as I emerge from the hills I am an avalanche I am unchained I'm awoken I'll unleash hell So I roar, pin back my ears And stone by stone I'll tear it all apart” This is him explaining that he’s unstable, he needs help to calm down. But the help isn’t there. He’s alone, just like some people feel in our society.

He later explains how the forest is changing step by step. People are destroying nature “I've lost faith, the forest's changed My stomach's empty, I'm feeling faint. I've lost heart, the forest's scarred I hear no birds, just TV's and cars I've lost sight, the forest's died The brambles are bare, and I'm hollow inside

Each breath rattles like dice in my chest Each breath gambled, unwinding 'til death”

First “the forest's changed” Then “the forest's scarred” and last “ the forest's died”

In conclusion. This song have shows multiple points. is about how we destroy other animals homes and don’t show any sympathy when doing it. It’s also shows how we humans don’t see other perspectives. When we see someone go rampage, in this case the bear, we don’t try to figure out why they are doing what they are doing.

This song also points out how some people feel like they don’t have anyone to help them. The bear goes rampage since he can’t calm down. He feels like his life is doomed. Just like some people don’t feel like they have someone to talk to and do stupid things because of it.

It also shows how we handle nature so badly.
