With your revealing
I get the feeling
of a blind man in bed
couldn't hear what I said
with your revealing
I get the feeling
of a monk in a church
a big empty church

My impression is the writer feels disconnected from the person they’re talking to, who had revealed something about themself they maybe concealed up to now? Maybe they weren’t being honest or genuine, and now the writer feel blind, and the other person is dead (can’t hear them). In the second half their feeling like a monk in a big empty church might mean they feel alone. When I think of monks, I picture dudes with shaved heads living in some monestary, brewing beer and copying books and whatnot, with their brothers. I don’t think of them in a big church, for them it’s not about preaching to people, but following their own beliefs in private. So the second part makes me think the writer feels out of place after what the person revealed. But I have no idea for sure! I always loved how some of these Minutemen lyrics were kind of abstract & thought provoking and you could interpret them different ways. Has anyone read any interviews with Boon or Watt that sheds some light on this one?
@madscijr correction (typo / stupid spelling checker): Maybe they weren’t being honest or genuine, and now the writer feel blind, and the other person is DEAF (can’t hear them).
