Inside the Restless Mind of Rollerball Rocco Lyrics

I was trying my best to understand
How a beautiful bouncing baby becomes an horrible man
As a child, I thought I'd grow up to be a dancer
But I became a fighter
Just like my mother

So I left Bradford, looking for a new guru
And I found him in a greasy spoon
He pushed his food around the plate in contemplation
And he whispered in my ear this incantation

All hail Little White Angel and Dr Death
Mick McManus, not a grey hair on his head
'Cry Baby' Jim Breaks and the forearm smash
Giant Haystacks and the Big Daddy splash

And the animals in the yard
Were the last thing that I heard
He placed a sacrament on my toe
And I knew that something
Something was gonna go wrong

Egg and chips from a transport caff
Was the worst food that I've ever had
Do you want some more?
Oh, dear God, no!
Thoughts collide inside the restless mind
Of Rollerball Rocco

Cover art for Inside the Restless Mind of Rollerball Rocco lyrics by Luke Haines

When wrestler Les Kellett (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Kellett) retired, he opened up a transport cafe in Bradford called The Terminus. Luke Haines has said in an interview (http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/luke-haines-a-britpop-outsider-grapples-with-life-in-the-ring-6270469.html) that he liked the idea of Kellett becoming a sort of wrestling guru: "I imagined people like Rollerball Rocco coming to seek knowledge over this awful food in this awful setting."
