I know I've made this journey before
and still it's not what I hoped for
I wait in the stone, way after dark
'cause you left your keys in the lock of my heart
The closer we get, the further apart
then, what's left of me is left with you
you pull me around, sweet leash i'm on.
with your milk in my veins, sand in my shoes
and I know now I would be there for you.
and still it's not what I hoped for
'cause you left your keys in the lock of my heart
you pull me around, sweet leash i'm on.
and I know now I would be there for you.

Seems to be a dialogue between Yannis and the "bluebird" in his "stone" heart. Yannis is a fan of the poet Charles Bukowski, and may have been inspired by Charles Bukowski's poem named "bluebird". It is a beautiful poem in which Charles describes the "bluebird" in his heart, and how he must keep it locked up and suppressed for fear that it might ruin his life. An incredible interviewer named Noah, asked Yannis if Total Life Forever is a glimpse into the "bluebird" living in Yannis (After reading him the Bukowski poem) and Yannis said with no hesitation "Yes". So solidly in fact that I have 0 doubt in my mind that this song is inspired by the Poem of the same name. I want to thank Noah for asking such great questions. I don't think people understand that, without that loud room they were being interviewed in, and the distractions it caused forcing the interview to be cut short and not allowing Yannis to answer the final (bluebird) question, that this song may very well (I absolutely believe) have never been written.
