Let's Talk About Your Hair Lyrics
We went to bed that night
And dreamed of better things
A god, a devil, and me
And how you lost your wings
I always wondered when you stopped loving me
But I can't see clearly
But I know that you know that I know that you don't really care
Let's talk about your hair and how it's grown
And how we know that we're not getting anywhere
Nothing is what it seems
Tell me about the man in your dreams
And was it me?
But I know that you know that I know that you don't really care
Let's talk about your hair and how it's grown
And how we know that we're not getting anywhere
But I know that you know that I know that you don't really care
Let's talk about your hair and how it's grown
And how we know that we're not getting anywhere
I went to bed that night
And dreamed of better things
A god, a devil, and me
And how you lost your wings
But I know that you know that I know that you don't really care
Let's talk about your hair and how it's grown
And how we know that we're not getting anywhere
But I know that you know that I know that you don't really care
Let's talk about your hair and how it's grown
And how we know that we're not getting anywhere

To me this song is about what it's like for a guy to be in a loveless/one-sided relationship with a woman.
You go to bed at night knowing there's something better out there for you. Nobody should have to feel like this. You thought she was an angel at the beginning. She no longer loves you. You can see it in her eyes and hear it in her voice. She doesn't care about you. You know it. She knows you know it. She doesn't care: she's just waiting for someone better to come along. You're little more than a stop gap for her. So you talk about trivial things. You put on a false front to others. They don't know you two stopped loving each other a long time ago. You wonder if there's already someone else she loves. You hate her for it.
I know that you know that I know that you don't really care so let's talk about fashion and your career and how we know that we're not getting anywhere. I know that you know that I know that you don't want to be with me anymore. I don't want to be with you either. We're only with each other because I'm afraid of being alone and you want someone to use before you can move on with someone new.
Fuck you, CMR, for ruining this otherwise beautiful song for me.
To me the song is after a break up of a strong relationship. some time has passed and the guy hasn't stopped loving her and still cares about her but (he knows that she knows that he knows that she doesn't care) about him anymore so to combat that he the speaker tries to create small talk by asking about her hair when he really wants to know when she stopped loving him and if he was ever the man in her dreams like she was the woman in his dreams
"The song is really about meeting up with someone months after a breakup," Swindle told us. "It's a real story. Spending one night with an ex and seeing if you can rekindle something that shouldn't be rekindled. The line 'let's talk about your hair' is just about making pointless conversation to keep things going, when in reality you know it's not getting anywhere.'" http://www.mtv.com/news/2303839/have-mercy-lets-talk-about-your-hair-video/
This is about being in a long relationship with someone that you did at one point love. But you notice the relationship failing beyond repair, you talk about everything but the problems in the relationship because you're just tired of it.
This hits so close to home it's scary.
A truly painfully beautiful song.
