I'm on Fire (Bruce Springsteen cover) Lyrics

Hey little girl, is your daddy home
Did he go away and leave you all alone
I got a bad desire
Oh, oh, oh, I'm on fire

Tell me now baby, is he good to you
Can he do to you the things that I do
I can take you higher
Oh, oh, oh, I'm on fire

It's like someone took a knife
Edgy and dull and cut a six-inch valley
Through the middle of my skull

At night I wake up with the sheets soaking wet
And a freight train running through the middle of my head
Only you can cool my desire
Oh, oh, oh I'm on fire

Oh, oh, oh I'm on fire

Hey little girl, is your daddy home
Did he go away and leave you all alone
I got a bad desire
Oh, oh, oh I'm on fire

Tell me now baby, is he good to you
Can he do to you the things that I do
I can take you higher
Oh, oh, oh I'm on fire
I'm on fire

I'm on fire
I'm on fire

Cover art for I'm on Fire (Bruce Springsteen cover) lyrics by John Mayer

I have listened to this son on repeat and looked up the lyrics because "little girl" and "daddy" threw me off as I fig this wasnt a pedophile song. I also saw its a cover to Bruce's music !

Brilliant lyrics and love John Mayers arrangement even more so.

It seems that this guy previously knew this girl or had seen her before and when asking if her daddy's home he was checking on her. He asks if her daddys good to her and knows that he could treat her better and be better to her.

He is tormented so much that he sweats on the sheets at night while sleeping and dreaming of having her. Obsessed.

He is on fire with passion for her. The pain effects his brain and thinking.
