No Wonder I Lyrics

No wonder I feel a thousand petals
I'm walking by cherry blossoms in the sky
Feels exciting to be living
No wonder I feel so tired of talking
There's so much to take in today

I'm humming like washing machines through the window
And feeling glad that I saw you in your favorite jeans
Feels so friendly when you say "Hello"
No wonder I want to wrap you up and take you home
I'm looking forward to the chance to meet again
But then again it all depends

Suddenly I'm not so sure
That intentions can be pure
If I could just throw all my doubts into the wind
I think that they'd come back again

Every cloud has a silver lining
Every cloud has a silver lining
Every cloud has a silver lining
Every cloud has a silver lining

bmos happy song has quickly become my own. <3 the sun inspired silver lining...even with the darkest of clouds the sun still persists in lighting up and inspiring us to better ourselves. im obsessed with plato's therepublic, so the sun metaphor always makes me smile. may we all see the quality of everything in light of Beauty, Truth, and Goodness! peer into the divine madness, and you might go blind; acclimate yourself with brief glimpses of the sun's outline, and eventually the light will become warm instead of blinding. fears will dissolve as ignorance dissolves, and viceversa. peace, my friends.

To me this song is about the feeling that falling in love while heavily depressed brings forth.

In the first verse she says "Feels exciting to be living". To specify that it is exciting, it is implied that it is not normally. In other words, not too long ago, maybe she didn't want to live (extreme case but still). She observes generally beautiful things around her, and says that she is "tired of talking". I'm seeing this as a sort of metaphor. By talking she means introspection/metacognition. The beauty she observes is the "color" flowing back into the world post-depression, and she is so absorbed, it is so beautiful compared to how it used to be, that she just wants to sit and watch it.

The second verse is generally similar to the first in that she describes reveling in her newly positive view of the world. However in this verse, she mentions that she sees someone "in your favorite jeans" and remarks that she wants to "wrap you up and take you home", making it obvious that the subject of the song is a person for whom she has feelings.

The next verse is a bit weird. "I'm not so sure / That intentions can be pure" is very clearly negative, but there are a lot of ways you could take it. I consider it an extension/continuation of the introspection/metacognition. She is observing her thoughts and actions and sees herself wanting this person as selfish or bad in some other way. She makes a remark that it is impossible for her to forget her worries and doubts. Introspective people (especially those who suffer from social anxiety or a similar issue) often suffer from this.

The end is fairly obvious. "Every cloud has a silver lining". She says that no matter how bad it may seem, how depressed you are, how much you want to end it, better days are ahead. You just need to make it there.

That's just how I see it though, and our interpretations of music are always shaped by our personal experiences and thoughts. So take it with a grain of salt.
