Q&A

Lonely Lyrics

I was told to tell a lie
instead I kissed the boys,
and made them cry
And, still you think it's funny
I was late,
Well, God told me to wait
And in the end, when hearts were handed out
Some of us missed out

But if you're lonely,
Kiss the boys and make them cry
It only, hurts you for a little while
And we'll keep, turning,
Turning round the sun,
And all the days roll into one.

I took my time to look around
In love and all the places I have been
I pushed and stumbled in,
But I was late,
Still God told me to wait
And if I throw a pile of magic beans
Lets hope that I don't sneeze

But if you're lonely,
Kiss the boys and make them cry
It only, hurts you for a little while
And we'll keep, turning,
Turning round the sun,
And all the days roll into one.

Georgie Porgie pudding and pie
Kiss the boys and make them cry
When the boys came out to play
Georgie Porgie ran away
Georgie Porgie ran away

But if you're lonely,
Kiss the boys and make them cry
It only, hurts you for a little while
And we'll keep, turning,
Turning round the sun,
And all the days roll, into into one.
And we'll keep, turning,
Turning round the sun,
And all the days roll, into into one.
And we'll keep, turning,
Turning round the sun,
And all the days roll, into into one.

If you're lonely
If you're lonely
Ahh
If you're lonely
If you're lonely

Cover art for Lonely lyrics by Merril Bainbridge

As a 10-12 year old kid, I used to think that the lyrics were 'if you love me, kiss the boys and make them cry..." I thought that was such a weird request to make to a prospective boyfriend! :D

Now of course, I understand that the song is about single girls who are not too unhappy about being single and aren't guilty leading guys on! :S
