Girl on the Bus Lyrics

I’d like to think that I could try to hold it
But habit lets me know I can’t
It’s just I want everything so perfect
That means that I hope to make you laugh
But one by one, my jokes all fall down
And I notice that it’s late into yet another day

A lovesick man-child, proud and lonely
I think it’s high time that you should meet me

How could this happen to big old me?
I’m used to rejection, it sets me free
What’s holding you back? I saved you a seat
Is this the smile you wear before you see me?

Now maybe I’m a little imposing
But you ought to see yourself
You know everything about you’s just so right
Except for one thing: you’re teasing me
I see you try to dart your eyes down
It’s a new thing that I hate, each and every day

A lovesick man-child, proud and lonely
I told you my name, you jumped back and screamed

How could this happen to little me?
I’m used to rejection, it sets me free
What’s holding you back? I saved you a seat
Is this the smile you wear before you see me?

I want you to be there when I’m off
I want you to hear me when I talk
You looked at me once, please do it again
I promise not to make a scene quite this early

Besides, why can’t you see these things my way?
It’d really be the best thing for us
To take things one ride at a time

Cover art for Girl on the Bus lyrics by Marshes, The

Incredible punk song, fast paced, can't believe no one has talked about it. The song is pretty self-explanatory, but the music actually accompanies the lyrics in this case, it enhances the trepidation and social awkwardness towards the object of his affection (the girl). This is something that any teenage boy (or girl) punk fan experiences a lot. The social awkwardness, fear, and excitement. This is just put into a catchy, but edgy, 2 and a half minute, to the point, punk song. What else can you ask for?
