Green Eyes and a Heart of Gold Lyrics
Money's gone and the house is cold
And it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright
Money's gone and the house is cold
And it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright
The night of the fourth of July
The darkness kept your silhouette
When light flashed 'cross the sky
One crash at a time, oh
One crash at a time, yeah
Money's gone and the house is cold
And it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright
Money's gone and the house is cold
And it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright
The F train takes us home
Our wide-eyed ways may look like
A wreck where we're from
We're losing blood with every beat
Our song is not a dying dream
You're not alone, you're not alone
Money's gone and the house is cold
And it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright
Money's gone and the house is cold
And it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright
Money's gone and the house is cold
And it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright
Money's gone and the house is cold
And it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright
The night of the fourth of July
Your face I only saw
When the fireworks crash
The F train takes us home
Our wide-eyed ways may look like
A wreck where we're from
Money's gone and the house is cold
And it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright
Money's gone and the house is cold
And it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright
"Oh what our ways may look like Back where we're from"
I think this should be:
"Our wide eyed ways may look like A wreck where we are from"
This song is amazing by the way. Surprised no one else has even commented on it. It's a wonderful depiction of facing all of life's hardships together with your lover and conquering it together. "Your face a lovely song where the fireworks crash" gives me chills the way he sings it. Makes me think of my wife every time, and puts a smile on my face
I agree with the guy above me. And I can relate. I'm moving cross country for law school on the East Coast. I've never done something like that before. Even though - I'm going on my own I still relate to the sentiment which is, at least I think it is, have the courage to chase your dreams, with or without your partner. It may seem crazy to everyone else - but do it anyway. You'll never regret it.
But I do agree, this song is about facing the hardships with your partner in a new place. Being broke and maybe a little lost in a new place - but are happier than you've ever been at the same tie.
